CSM Gordon Lee Taylor

Gordon Lee Taylor age 69 of Dryden, VA was born Wednesday, October 30, 1946 in Oneida, TN and passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. He retired a Command Sergeant Major (CSM) in the US Army and served in both Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was member of the General Motors United Auto Workers Association and attended the Inman Baptist Church in Appalachia, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Geneva Taylor. Gordon is survived by his wife Stella Taylor of the home, three daughters Melissa, LeighAnn and Amanda and a step-daughter Angela.  He is also survived by one step-grandchild Amber and one step-great-grandchild Avari, one brother Ralph Taylor of Ocala, FL and one sister Brenda Raupp and husband Tom of Lake Orion, MI.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Pastor Gary Swiney officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Monday until the time of the service. A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA with the local VFW Post and the National Guard Honors Team. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
