Dorothy Jean Gibson Cox

Dorothy Jean Gibson Cox age 68 of Jonesville, VA was born Tuesday, October 18, 1949 in the Leona Mines Community of St. Charles, VA and passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at her home.  She retired as a nurse and was a member of the Darbyville Missionary Baptist Church in St. Charles, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents Eckle and Ruby Gibson, three brothers Herschel, Hubert and infant Henry Gibson, two sisters Minnie Pearl Lambert and Freda Carrier. Dorothy is survived by three sons Todd Gibson and wife, Nikki of Noblesville, IN, Joe Cox and wife, Bobbie of Paoli, IN,  A.J. Cox and wife, Danielle of Atlanta, IN, grandchildren Bryce Gibson and Tanner Gibson, Gavri Ella Cox, Haley Lynn Cox, Caden Cox, Brooklyn Cox, Logan Cox and Addielyn Cox.  She is also survived by two brothers Clyde Douglas Gibson and wife, Loretta of Roanoke, VA and Clarence Gibson and wife, Sue of Jonesville, VA, three sisters Brenda Gibson Goins of Woodway, VA, Harriet James of Pennington Gap, VA, Wilma Goins of Pennington Gap, VA and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the funeral home sanctuary with Clarence Gibson and Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the breast cancer awareness fund.
