Dorothy Nelson

Dorothy Nelson age 84 of Rose Hill, VA was born Saturday, October 1, 1932 in the Flatwoods Community and passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA.  She retired as a cook from Lee County Public School System, was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Flatwoods. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover Nelson, parents Lilburn and Media Young and one sister Minerva Young. Dorothy is survived by two sons Dennis Nelson, Ricky Nelson and wife, Beverly all of Rose Hill, VA., two daughters Betty Williams and husband, James of Ewing, VA and Carolyn Hilton of Woodway, VA.  She is also survived by two grandchildren Dennis Nelson and wife, Brenda of Rose Hill, VA and Ashley Knisely and husband, Ronald of Jonesville, VA,  three great-grandchildren,  Daniel Knisely, twins Rozzland and Reyland Nelson, several great-great-grandhchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great great-grandchildren, one brother Glen Young of Jonesville, VA, one sister Sylvia Marcum of Jonesville, VA, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with Brother Carlos Wolfe officiating and Aaron Doyle to do the eulogy. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Saturday until the time of the service. Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Sunday at the Lee Cemetery in Rose Hill, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 AM Sunday for the service.
