Herbert Glenn Gilbert

Herbert Glenn Gilbert, age 82 of Dryden, Virginia .Passed away November 23 at Norton Community Hospital. He was born December 19, 1933 in Dryden Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents Briss and Frankie Huff Gilbert. His is survived by one daughter, Kathy Coker and grandchildren Crystal, Adam and Cody Coker all of Alabama.  Four sisters, Shirley Morefield and husband Vern of Woodway, and Betty Young of Woodway. Peggy Ewing of Pennington Gap and Wilma Daniels and husband Don of Stickleyville. Also eight nieces and three nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was an army veteran serving his country in Korea. He was a licensed charter boat captain through the National Coast Guard. He was a graduate of Dryden High School and Purdue University.  After retiring from Diebold, he spent his winters in Moorehaven Fl and summertime at the old home place in Dryden. He was an avid bass fisherman and bluegrass musician. He enjoyed every day of life and lived it to the fullest especially after he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Graveside service will follow at the Huff Family Cemetery in Woodway. Service will be conducted by Frankie Pennington and family members will serve as pall bearers.
