Rev. Judson Lee Shuler

Rev. Judson Lee Shuler-95-formerly of Pennington Gap, VA, passed into the presence of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on June 19 at home surrounded by his beloved family and wife of 70 years, Edna Virginia Shuler.  He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Judson Shuler, parents, Robert Lee and Lucy Shuler, brothers, Willie Shuler, James Everett Shuler and Harley Leo Shuler. Surviving siblings are, Glen Richard Shuler, Ruth Lemar, Pearl Newman, Bobbi Sue Link and Lena Egan. He is also survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynedia and Lonnie Gregg of Knoxville, TN, Brenda Patterson and Kenneth James of London, KY, Barbara and Randy Meyer of Knoxville, TN and son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Bernadette Shuler of Oceanside, CA.  He left behind 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a devout Christian and preached the Word of God everywhere he went.  He preached his funeral by the life he lived.  He visited those in jail and told those in all the medical offices about his faith in God.  He was a survivor of WWII and the Normandy invasion on Omaha Beach, but suffered the pain of PTSD the rest of his life.  He worked in the coal mines from his youth and was a member of UMWA.  He also loved his 40 acre farm and worked on it until he was no longer able to see.  He loved his family and will be missed by every one of them. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have run the race, I have kept the faith! That is our daddy!

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon Friday. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday with Rev. Donald Harding officiating. Burial will follow at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Military rites will be conducted by local VFW Posts and the Army National Guard Honors Team.
