Trena Tankersley Miller

Trena Tankersley Miller, 73, of Dryden, VA, departed this life to make her home in Heaven on September 3, 2017 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. Trena was born in Wise County on July 4, 1944, to Lawrence and Lorene Bishop Tankersley, and moved to Dryden in 1959. She left Dryden upon graduation to pursue a career in civil service that took her to Washington, DC, Texas, and Arkansas before she returned to her family home in Dryden in 2012 where she lived until her passing. In addition to her parents, Trena was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Tankersley Broussard and her husband Donald, Lafayette, LA. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lonnie Miller, Dryden, VA; a daughter, Rynda Murphy Tong, Griffin, GA; a son, Lt. Ed Murphy VSP (ret) and wife Sandy, Pennington Gap, VA; grandchildren, Brandi Tong Bobbitt, Houston, TX; Kristen Murphy Parker and husband Tracey, Pennington Gap, VA; Shelby Murphy, Chilhowie, VA and Dalton Rivers, Pennington Gap, VA; great-grandson Corbin Bobbitt, Houston, TX; two brothers, Joseph (Joe Bud) Tankersley and wife Norma, Dryden, VA; Foster (Ram) Tankersley and wife Cindie, Bristol, VA and many beloved family members, friends and neighbors. Trena was an avid fisherman and gardener. She loved animals and especially loved her family and good friends. She left a huge hole in many peoples' hearts and lives. At the same time, her suffering has ended and for that we are eternally grateful.
As Trena requested, no formal services will be held.
