Bruce Garland Edwards, a resident of Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA (formerly of Denton, NC) passed away after a sudden illness on Friday, June 21st in Abingdon, VA at the age of 60 years. Mr. Edwards was born in Stanly County, NC on October 20th, 1958 to Wilburn Lee Edwards and Betty Carolyn McCarn Edwards. He later moved with his family to the small town of Denton, NC where he grew up and resided with his parents. He retired due to disability from the logging and sawmill industry in North Carolina and along with his father followed his dream of living in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. He was an avid farmer and loved animals "The true love of his life." His hobbies included hunting, fishing and reading novels. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Carolyn McCarn Edwards (1937-2001). Surviving is his father and faithful fishing and hunting companion who will dearly miss him, Wilburn Lee Edwards of Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA, four siblings Robert Edwards (Sara) of Taylors, SC, Debra Shropshire (Larry) of Trinity, NC, Bennie Edwards of Southmont, NC and Mary Helmstetler (Jeremy) of Lexington, NC. His memory will be cherished and furthermore in the hearts of his father, siblings and family. His siblings will be having a private celebration of life at a later date.
