Della T. Smith

Della T. Smith, age 94, from Lee County VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of The Living God in Pennington Gap, VA. She was a devoted woman of faith, loving wife and mother. Her life was dedicated to her family which she considered God’s greatest gift, second only to His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Della was renowned for her cooking, baking skills and for her love of flowers. She never had any trouble finding help with chores around the house or in the garden. Everyone always knew they would have plenty of homemade delicious food to eat while they were there to work or visit.
Della’s legacy began February 25, 1924. She was one of seven children born to her loving parents, Josh Taylor Sr. and Hattie Ayers, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by; Her brothers: John, Lester, Earl, Joshua and Silas Taylor. Her sister: Lillie Mae Collins
Four devoted and attentive husbands: Hoage (Bowlin) Boldon, Cecil Glen Mise, Rosebert Pearl Carter and Fred H. Smith Three sons: H.R. Billie (Bowlin), Douglas McArthur (Bowlin) and Don Boldon. Three grandsons: Darrell McRandy, Ronnie Billy Don Ramsey, Marcus Nelson TJ Boldon.

She is survived by: Two sons: Ronnie Nelson and Jimmy Carroll Boldon, both from Lee County VA. Devoted Grandchildren, Great-Grand Children, Great-Great Grandchildren along with many Nieces, Nephews and family too numerous to count and honor by name. Daughters-In-Law: Tonya Boldon, Helen Parks, Peggy Boldon, Pauline Bigsby, Emmily Boldon (deceased), Geraldine Cope (deceased). She is survived by a host of family and friends she loved dearly; included in this family was fellow members of The Church of The Living God in Pennington Gap, VA., Lee Bank & Trust, Blue Ridge Hospital, Hospice Home Health, and the entire Lee County Community she loved and considered home for much of her life. The family wishes to express a special thank you to everyone for your compassionate love, kindness and support during this very difficult time. Della may be gone from our daily lives, but she will live forever in our hearts and loving memories.

In celebration and honor of Della’s amazing 94 years of life, the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th, at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Funeral services will follow at 8-9 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Dotson officiating. Burial will be at Beach Grove Cemetery departing from Province Funeral Home Wednesday, April the 11th at 10 a.m.
