Howard Catron age 85 of the Pot Branch Community of St. Charles, VA was born Saturday, October 29, 1932 in St. Charles, VA and passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Howard grew up in Bonny Blue, VA and could tell you those stories for hours. Howard later joined the Air Force as a communications specialist. He was stationed in Germany for five years an loved telling you the stories about him traveling the countryside. His hobbies were learning about history, hiking the mountains, and even at age 85 he would spend hours on his tractor. He was a very stubborn and hard working man. He enjoyed good home cooked meals, especially the ones made by Janice Robbins and Judy Blevins. He also really loved his chocolate. The highlights of his life have been spending time with his two great-grandkids Victoria and Brayden Blevins. He spoiled them rotten and they would say he’s the best papaw ever. He especially loved his soul mate who he missed dearly, Pauline Catron, who he is now in Heaven with. He will be greatly missed. We would love to send a special thank you to Janice, Ashley and Mike Robbins for always being there for him through it all, he loved you all. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Catron, father and mother Fred and Mary Catron, two brothers Harvey Catron, Smith Catron and a brother-in-law Sheldon Moore. Howard is survived by his daughter Ilene Hayes of Dryden, VA; his brothers Charles Catron of Montana, Ace Catron of Virginia, Harold Catron and wife, Ellen of Abilene, VA, sisters Mary Moore of Richmond, IN and Elizabeth Catron of Jonesville, VA and sister-in-law Sue Catron. He is also survived by his granddaughters Cassie Blevins and husband, Shaun of Pennington Gap, VA, Hannah Hayes of Dryden, VA, special neighbors and friends Mike, Janice and Ashley Robbins and their family.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Tuesday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Witt Cemetery in the Pot Branch Section of Bonny Blue Community. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
