Jack Dempsy Hyatt, age 85, of Rose Hill, VA was born March 13, 1934 in Yancey, KY and went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Houston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. Jack retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Illinois.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents George and Alice Hyatt; his daughter Sylvia Ann Hyatt; one grandson Jackie Palmer; one granddaughter Brenda Gale Palmer; his in-laws Pete and Maude Hornsby; four brother Buster, Benab, Vernon, Charlie Hyatt; two sisters Helen Fee and Opal Martin.
Jack is survived by his wife Kate Hornsby Hyatt of the home; his son Paul “Rudy” Hyatt and wife Anita of Washington, IL; his brother Ray Hyatt and wife Beverly of Barbourville, KY; five grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, October 21, 2019, from 1-3 p.m. in the chapel of Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. Funeral services will be Monday, October 21, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Timothy Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens Park West in Rose Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Matt Hyatt, Wes Hyatt, Kadin Hyatt, Brandon Weaver, Jace Kilgore, alt. Lynn Hornsby and alt. Rob Kerley. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in his honor to be made to National Autistic Society.
