Jack Doyle Thomas, age 88, of the Robbins Chapel Community of Keokee, VA was born in Robbins Chapel on Tuesday, January 21, 1930 and passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. Jack was an retired coal miner, was a member of the United Mine Workers Association and a member, where he was a Deacon, at the Eastern Sunrise Freewill Baptist Church. Jack was also a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fannie Thomas; his son Dwight Thomas; his infant grandson, Anthony Doyle Stapleton and a very special friend, Herman Disney. He is survived by his wife, Irene Thomas of the home; one son, Tim Thomas and wife, Tracy of Pennington Gap, VA and one daughter, Diane Stapleton and husband, Jimmy of Hiltons, VA; three grandchildren, Jason Stapleton, T.J. Thomas and Barbara Ann Thomas and one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Stapleton. Jack is also survived by a special niece, Sharon Cave, special daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cooper and special friends, Rhonda Disney, Debbie Artrip and Hannah. Also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Rev. Leonard Lane and Rev. Stan Tate officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. Tuesday until time of services. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Robbins Chapel Cemetery in the Robbins Chapel Community of Keokee, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by local VFW and the National Guard Honors Team.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
