Jackie (Jack) Norman Roach

Jackie (Jack) Norman Roach, age 80, from Jonesville, VA entered his heavenly home on April, 17, 2019 after battling kidney disease. Jack was born July 22, 1938 in Knoxville, TN to Halmer Roy Roach and Jessie Irene Satterfield. He was a Navy veteran prior to becoming a professional firefighter in 1961. His career with City of Alexandria lasted over 30 years. He rose through the ranks and retired as a Deputy Fire Chief in 1993. He and his wife, Dorothy left Alexandria, VA in 1995 and returned to Lee County, VA
Jack was a member of Cedar Hill Country Club. He was a proud 50 year member of The Masonic Organization. Also, enjoyed membership in Eastern Star where he was honored to be a Past Patron of Occoquan Chapter 59 and Cumberland Chapter 170. He was an honorary member of Lee County Garden Club. Lifetime member of Lee County Historical Society.
He faithfully served as a Shriner Road Runner to transport children to Shriners Hospitals. He made over 300+ trips to help these children. Proudly wore his jacket and hat to proclaim his dedication to these children. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. Beloved husband, father and Pa to his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, married 61 yrs and 9 months. Daughters, Teresa and special son in law, Alan Pike(Manassas, VA) and Lisa Roach, Son, Tracy Roach and special grandson, Austin Roach, (Woodbridge, VA)Two brothers, Wayne (Martha) Roach and Gary (Haydee) Roach, Northport, FL. His very loved special dog, Stretch. Extended family, sisters and brothers in laws and several nieces and nephews.
He was a giver, living his life in service to others and set an example by his actions. Our Dad was a man we hope to live up to some day. He instilled a deep family love in his children. We always knew he loved us. He was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Church Family which he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Cedar Hill Christian Church or Kinser Cemetery Memorial Fund.

A memorial service will be held at Province Funeral Home, Jonesville, VA on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Visitation 4 pm to 6pm with Masonic and Memorial Service to follow.
