James (Jim) Wheeler Pridemore, age 91 of the Pucketts Creek Community of Pennington Gap, VA was born in Ewing, VA on December 5, 1926 and passed away at his home on September 1, 2018. He had attended the Free Pentecostal Church of God at Pucketts Creek for the past 40 years and had retired in 2000 from the Lee Regional Hospital where he had worked in the maintenance department.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Yearwood and sons Ronnie and Arva Lee Brewer, father and mother Robert and Sally (Nida) Pridemore, brothers: his twin Charlie, Ray and Dewey; sisters Mary Roark, Frances Jones. Elizabeth Burton and Dorothy Jones.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patsy (Thomas) Pridemore of the home, daughters Susie Bryant of Big Stone Gap, VA, Jamie (Pat) Peterson of Doe, AL, Melanie (Mitch) Ewing of Jonesville, VA, Gail (Howard) Smith of Jonesville, VA, a granddaughter whom he raised, Courtney (Ray) Blair of Jonesville, VA, special grandson Jimmy (Christa) Bryant of Lexington, KY, 2 granddaughters, Sydni Smith of Jonesville, VA, Shelly (Joe) Holt of Mascot, TN, 9 other grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; his sister, Leona Brock.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Jim Ewing and Paul Davis Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until time of the service. Roscoe Mullins will officiate in a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Rogers Cemetery at Pucketts Creek. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. to go to the gravesite.
