Jimmy Wayne Snodgrass passed away at his home in Jonesville, VA after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side.    He was born on May 10, 1967 in Prince William County, VA. Jimmy spent most of his life in Lee County, VA and dedicated 32 years to serving others in the community.  He began his career in Emergency Medical Services as a teenager when he became a member of the Pennington Gap Volunteer Rescue Squad.  He was employed several years at Good Neighbor Ambulance Service, Ambulance Service of Bristol, Friendship Ambulance Service and was employed at C-Trans Medical Services at the time of his death.  Jimmy remained a lifelong member of the Pennington Gap Rescue Squad.  He was a board member on the Southwest VA EMS Council.  He taught a variety of EMS Responder Classes throughout his career.  Jimmy remained dedicated to the community he loved even through his time of illness.  EMS was his passion and his motto has always been “I just treat others the way I would want to be treated.” Jimmy was a dedicated husband and father.  His proudest accomplishment was becoming a father to the three sons he cherished.  Jimmy was proud to be active and hands on with his boys. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 20 years, Jennifer Andrea Snodgrass, and his three sons, Caleb Winston, Gabriel Isaiah, and Jacob Ryan.  He is the son of Polly Snodgrass and the late Paul Snodgrass of the Woodway community.  He is also survived by sisters Roberta “Birdie” Watkins and husband Denny of Corbin, KY and Becky Pittman and husband Rodney of Harrogate, TN; nieces, Shelby Johnson, Jenna Watkins, and a special niece Sarah Ely; nephews, Logan Watkins and Tanner Pittman, and a special nephew Garet Burgin.  He is also survived by special pets, Ami and Sebastian Snodgrass.


Visitation with Honor Guard will be held at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap on Saturday, August 12 from 5 pm – 8 pm with Flag Presentation and Last Call ceremonies to follow.   Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 13 at 1 pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Ely and Rev. Paul Davis officiating.  Special music will be provided.  Graveside services to follow at the Snodgrass-Minor cemetery in the Flatwoods community.  Pallbearers will be Randy Toohey, Jimmy Gordon, Steven Tiller, and members of the Pennington Gap Fire Department.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pennington Gap Fire Department.
