John Nida

John F. Nida age 71 of Pennington Gap, VA was born Monday, November 24, 1947 in Rose Hill, VA and went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home He was a member of the Red Hill Memorial Church of Duffield, VA. He was a retired coal miner of 31 years for Westmoreland and Jim Walter mines of Brookwood, AL. John was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Lizzie Nida. Sisters, Anna Ingle and Louise Allen. Brothers, James Robert, Bill and Burl Nida. His father and mother in law, Paul and Bernice Napier. Brothers-in-laws Jerry and Harold (Huleo) Napier. He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Mae Nida of Pennington Gap, VA, son Matthew and wife Brittany and granddaughter Madi of Pennington Gap, VA, his 3 sisters Nora Fitts of Jonesville, VA, Patty Minor of Shelbyville, KY, and Belva Young of Stickleyville, VA, 4 sisters-in-laws Lois May and Jenny Jones and husband Bruce of Pennington Gap, VA Darlene Napier of Ben Hur, VA and Claudia Nida of Rose Hill, VA, special best friend and brother-in-law Harold (Willie) May and several nieces, nephews and host of friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 noon Friday to go to the cemetery.
