Joy Mabel Rogers, age 86, of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born on October 28, 1933 in Jonesville, Virginia, to the late Curtis and Grace (Welch) Greer.
On January 15, 1951 she married the love of her life Anthony Rogers and they shared more than 45 years of life together before his death in 1996.
Joy was a homemaker and devoted herself to caring for her home and her family. She enjoyed shopping and cooking for her family.Joy was known for her excellent yeast rolls, deviled eggs and cherry delight. She also enjoyed going out to eat at Bob Evans. She loved the holidays and just being with her family especially her grandchildren.
Joy is survived by 4 children, Jerry (Darlene) Rogers of Pierceton, IN,Terry (Amy) Rogers of Kokomo, Debra "Debbie" (David) Reeves of Elwood, and Angie (Steve) Mays of Elwood, 6 grandchildren, Courtney Bradshaw, Andy (Jen) Rogers, Emily Grace Rogers, Koby (Terry) Vest, Tyler (Brooklyn) Shannon, Trevor Shannon, 7 step-grandchildren, Darrell (Jackie) Ponsler, Shawn (Desiree) Ponsler, Nick Leeson, Hillary Leeson, Lyndsey Mays, Denver Mays, and Logan Reeves, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother, David (Susie) Greer, and several nieces and nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Greer, mother, Grace Greer, husband, Anthony Rogers, grandson, Aaron Rogers, and siblings, Clyde Greer, Rosa Jarrell, and Irene Eldridge.
Visitation will be held from 3 - 8 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St.Elwood, IN 46036.
Visitation will also be held from 11am - 1 pm on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Province Funeral Home 29521 Wilderness Road in Jonesville, Virginia. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm and burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Jonesville, Virginia.
