Kermit Grant “Jake” Witt, age 74, born February 8, 1945, in Keokee, VA and went to his heavenly home on October 26, 2019 in Norton, VA. He participated in the Special Olympics for many years and attended Shelter Workshop at Independence Unlimited. He was with the program for more than 40 years. He was an honorary member of Keokee Fire Department. He enjoyed his country music, family reunions, going to church and just a little fishing. He truly loved working.
Kermit is preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Eva Witt; his brothers Ralph Witt and wife Joyce, Larry Witt, Leo Witt and Mike Witt; his sisters Patricia Sparks, Louise Mathis and husband Louis; his brothers-in-law Edward Beard, Mike Ward and Palmer Maggard.
Kermit is survived by his brothers Bill Witt and wife Stella of Ripley, MI, Doug Witt and wife Shelly of Merrillville, IN; his sisters Dora Beard of Aurora, CO, Nancy Ward of Reading, OH, Sue Maggard of Keokee, VA; special friend Phyllis Horton, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation for Kermit will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019, from 5 -7 p.m. in the chapel of Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Tony Nunley and Rev. Bill Hughes officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the Witt Family Cemetery in Keokee, VA. Family is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go to the cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Province Funeral Home for the funeral expenses.
