Ollie William Freeman

Ollie William Freeman, age 102, of Dryden, VA was born Wednesday, October 3, 1917 in Dryden to Frank and Lorenda (Fannon) Freeman and passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at his home. He was the last surviving member of 10 and has lived most of his life in Lee County, VA. He is a WWII Veteran and often talked of his training and duty stations. He worked in the cotton mills of South Carolina, the coal mines and farmed tobacco. He was a Deacon at The Woodway Church of God for many years and attributed his long life and good health to the Lord above. Ollie enjoyed watching baseball and gospel on the TV.

He married Margaret Freeman on May, 20, 1938 and enjoyed many years together before her passing in 2004. They had 16 children together, Charlotte Looney (deceased), Barbara Easterling (deceased), Betty Jones of Fall Branch, TN; Frank Freeman (deceased), Judy Short (deceased), Dianne Robbins of Dryden, VA; Clyde Freeman of Dryden, VA; Robert Freeman of Woodway, VA; Carolyn Hughes of Stickleyville, VA; Larry Freeman of Dryden, VA; Mike Freeman (deceased), Ollie Freeman, Jr. of Dryden, VA; Danny Freeman of Monarch, VA; Kenneth Freeman of Dryden, VA; Shirley White of Dryden, VA; Emery Freeman (Deceased); and a special granddaughter they raised, Jo Bauer of Colonial Heights, TN; he has 35 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, a special niece Brenda Freeman of South Carolina, and a special nephew Lloyd "Buddy" Sisk of TN.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday with Rev. Jack Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Freeman Cemetery on Big Hill in Pennington Gap, VA.
