Ora Jean Johnston

Ora Jean Johnston, age 80 of the Sandy Ridge community of Jonesville, VA was born in Jonesville, VA on Monday, January 24, 1938 and departed this life on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA. Ora Jean was a cook and had worked in several restaurants in Jonesville and she loved to crochet, spend time with her family and grandchildren and frying chicken for her family and friends. Ora Jean was a member of the McConnells Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Venson Johnston; one daughter, Anita Haynes; grandson Daron Lamb; her parents, Albert and Margaret Rutledge; eight brothers, Charlie, Roy, Bruce, Clyde, C.T., Edward, Herman and Henry; one sister, Rose Lee Wheeler; one son-in-law, Dennis Lamb. Ora Jean is survived by one daughter, Donna Faye Johnston of Jonesville, VA and one son-in-law, Bobby Haynes; two grandchildren, Denise Lamb Campbell and Whitney Lawson and husband Josh and three great-grandchildren, Devin and Ashton Campbell and Maverick Lawson; one sister, Bernice Quinley of Jonesville, VA; also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Jonesville, VA with Nathan Hay officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. Tuesday until time of Services. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at McConnells Cemetery on Sandy Ridge in Jonesville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. to go to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
