My beloved husband, Robert (Bob) McNiel went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March seventh. He was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on March second 1945. Bob was seventy-three years old. Bob was known as "the gentleman farmer." Farming was his passion and he enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and the quartet, "Tones of Prophecy" singing bass and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a devoted servant of God. Bob worked for Lee County Social Services and the Lee County School Board retiring in 1999, as principal of Lee High School after thirty years of service. He also served as chairman of the Lee County School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. (Bill) and Mary McNiel, and brother Bill (Buck). He is survived by his wife Dottie of forty-five years, one daughter Rachel Adams and sister Rebecca (Becky) Grizzle; four precious grandchildren; Moncia Livesay, Mary, Richard, and Brody Adams. Bob is also survived by many family members and friends. He was a man of few words and like King Solomon in the Bible, had much wisdom. A private celebration of Life was held Sunday, March eleventh at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with Pastor Tim Cress officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be sent to the Steep Rock Church of God of Prophecy. Memorials and condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.provincefuneralhome.com. We are located at 29521 Wilderness Rd. Jonesville, VA 24263. Phone 276-346-3553. Province Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the family of Robert (Bob) McNiel.
