Roy Carr Hines

Roy Carr Hines, age 78 of Jonesville, VA was born in Jonesville, VA on Sunday, February 25, 1940 and passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home in Jonesville. Roy was a Navy Veteran of 4 years and when returning home worked with his father in the H and H Supermarket in Jonesville on Hines Hill and Way-Lo Supermarket in Pennington Gap. He later worked with Dr. Tom Jones’s dental Office where he made dentures. Roy loved family history and pictures, was a member of the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap and attended the Jonesville First Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Marie Hines; one son, Mark Hines; step son-in-law Mark Wallen; his brothers, Dub Hines, Jim Hines and his sister, Juanita Garrett. Roy is survived by his life long companion, Irene Osborne; Their son, Tony Hines of Jonesville, VA; his daughter, Kim Wichman and husband Gerry of Fairland, IN; step-son Kent Lee Osborne and wife Vonda of Greenville, TN and step-daughter, Penny Wallen of Kingsport, TN; five grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Nick, Nikki and Krista and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Kelly Hines and wife Von of Dayton, OH; three sisters, Lois Hedrick and husband Monroe of Christiansburg, VA; Sharyn Edwards and husband Jimmy of Jonesville, VA and Linda Cridlin and husband Clyde of Christiansburg, VA; two sisters-in-laws, Francis Hines of Jonesville, VA and Joyce Hines of Woodstock, GA; also his special niece and caretaker, Nancy Garrett and several other nieces, nephews, counsins and many friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday with Rev. Paul Davis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodard Cemetery in Jonesville, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Jonesville First Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA.
