Thelma Jean (Crigger) Greer

Thelma Jean Crigger Greer, also known as “Babe” or “Baby Doll”, left this earth to get her heavenly wings on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA. Her battle with cancer was a hard fought one. She was born December 27, 1937 in Wheeler, Virginia. She was a farmers daughter and a farmers wife. She cooked, cleaned, worked on the farm and still found time to raise three kids. Mom saw the good in everything. She loved her senior citizen family, going to bingo, the casino and music on Friday nights. She was preceded in death by her parents James Leland and Ersula Bly Snavely Crigger; her husband Harold Edwin Greer; mother and father in-law Charlie Thomas and Ola Lee Louthan Greer. Other family members that have passed before her include brothers Ancil Clyde Crigger, James Daniel “J.D.” Crigger and Harold Eugene “Sambo” Crigger; sisters Lola Wilder and Francis Hill; also her son in-law Benny Pauley; granddaughter Robin Amanda Pauley; grandson Jason Ray; niece Twyla Moore Boyer. She is survived by her sister Georgia Ruth Wilder and brother Donald Ray Crigger and wife Betty; her son Larry Dale Greer “Greaser”; two daughters Reda Faye Greer Pauley (Lee) and Lisa Gail Ray (Barry). She has six Greer grandchildren that she loved dearly Jessee, Justin, Jody, Joshua, James, and Ava. Also greatly loved are her four great-grandchildren Titus, Emma, Asher and Sophia Greer. Other Family left to mourn her passing are Edith Moore, Barbara and Ray Donoho, Helen and Willard Ayers, Anna Kate Brown, Sammy and Wilma Greer and lots of nieces and nephews that were so good to her. All of Mom’s hard work and love for her family will be rewarded in heaven where she is bound to go. In her last days all the prayers, thoughts, visits, phone calls, gifts, food and cards from her family, friends, and neighbors made such a difference for all of us. Mom and Dad were married for 52 years at his passing. I'm sure Dad and all the family were waiting for her in heaven & will have a great reunion. Heaven has a special place for sweet mothers. She will be buried next to Dad in the Greer Family Cemetery on the Greer Family Farm on Crockett Ridge Rd. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with Rev. Tilman Branson officiating.
