Vernon Morefield

Vernon Morefield, age 82 of Woodway was born August 26, 1934 in Dryden, VA and passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home in Woodway, VA surrounded by his loving family. Vernon had retired from working at one of the Lee County Convenient Centers and was enjoying spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Morefield who went to her heavenly home on February 24, 2017; his mother, Golden Morefield and his grandparents. He is survived by his daughter Kay Standifer of Woodway, VA; his son Johnny Morefield of the home and his other daughter, Sherry Tomlinson; his grandchildren, Brian Standifer and wife Celeste, Anissa Middleton and husband Keith, all of Flatwoods; Jonathan Morefield of Ocoonita and David Crabtree of San Diago, CA; his great–grandchildren, Chris Standifer, Kasey Standifer of Flatwoods and Josh Laws of Woodway; a very special great great-grandchild, Cayden Blake Standifer of Pennington Gap, VA;  one sister, Jean Lawson of Dryden, VA and one niece, Judy, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until time of the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Paul Davis Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Huff Cemetery on Old Woodway Rd. in Woodway, VA. Pallbearers will be Brian Standifer, Keith Middleton, Jonathan Morefield, Chris Standifer Joshua Laws and Matthew Sturgill. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 A.M.
