Wilburn Lee Edwards June 27, 1934 - January 10th, 2020 Wilburn Lee Edwards passed away peacefully in the arms of the lord on January 10th at Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap Va. Mr. Edwards was born June 27th, 1934 the son of Edward Garland and Sara Catherine Hicks Edwards Wilburn was a native of Wise County, Virginia, and moved to NC as a young man in pursuit of a better life. He married Betty Carolyn McCarn in 1958, and together they reared their family in Denton, NC With little education, he made a living and raised his family from the land he loved. Wilburn worked in the Timber Industry, cutting and hauling Pulp Wood, and as additional supplement for his family, he hunted, fished, and sold furs. He raised cattle and always produced a prosperous garden until he could garden no longer. His hobbies would expand with the times and included Gold Panning, and digging that "Sang" He had a story for everyone and loved to laugh and cut up. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to make a friend. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, Wilburn was proceeded in death by his loving wife Betty Carolyn McCarn December 30th, 2001 And his eldest son Bruce Garland Edwards June 21st, 2019 Brothers Emmitt and John Sisters Beulah, Bernice, Betty and Virginia He is survived by Daughter Debra Shropshire(Larry) of Lexington NC Son Robert(Sarah) of Taylorsville SC Son Bennie of Southmont NC Daughter Mary(Jeremy) of Lexington NC Brother James of Lexington, NC He had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
