Billy Joe "Bill" Ridings

Billy Joe “Bill” Ridings was born on Monday, May 5, 1947, in St. Charles, Virginia, to the late James “Snook” Ridings and Bernice Parsons Ridings. He entered into his heavenly home on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the age of 74. He was a graduate of St. Charles High School. Bill was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1967 where he served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. Most of his career was spent in the coal mining industry in which he loved, and after retirement, he continued to find great enjoyment in sharing stories from his mining days. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. Bill loved the Lord and began and ended each day reading and studying God’s word.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bobby Ridings. Bill is survived by the following family who loved and will miss him dearly: His wife of 36 years, Linda Ridings of the home, one daughter, Stacey Belcher (Tim) of Pennington Gap, VA. One step-son, Alan Dollins (Anita) of Mooresburg, TN; One step-daughter, Debra McGinnis (Mike) of Mooresburg, TN. Three step grand-children Samantha McGinnis, Matthew Dollins, and Jazmine Dollins. He leaves behind his devoted dog and companion, Lulu. Bill is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Tester (Charlie), Hazel Tester, and Patsy Brooks. Three brothers, Eddie (Linda) Ridings, Rick Ridings, and Wayne (Alice) Ridings; special friends Dennis Jones and Charles Coleman, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday with Dennis Jones and Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mulberry Gap Cemetery in Sneedville, TN.
