Dr. Kay Gibson Matlock

Dr. Kay Gibson Matlock, age 70, of Jonesville, VA, entered into Heaven on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Kay was born on August 25, 1948 in Kingsport, TN to the Late James Leonard Gibson and Pearl L. Gibson. Kay retired from Stone Mountain Health Services after 25 years of service. She received her RN degree from East Tennessee State University, her Bachelors degree in Health Care Administration at St. Joseph’s College, her Masters Degree in Nursing-Family Nurse Practioner from the University of Tennessee and her Doctor of Education from Argosy University Sarasota, FL.

Kay is preceded in death by her father James Leonard Gibson.  She is survived by her husband Neal C. Matlock, Jr. of the home; her mother Pearl L. Gibson; her daughters Lisa Kay McLaughlin and husband Rob, Susie Ford and husband Howard; one granddaughter Dayna Kay McLaughlin; one great-grandson Hunter Lee Tomlinson; sister Kathy G. Williams and husband Paul; sister-in-law Carlene (Danny) Potter; nieces Christy (Chad) Peters, Jaime (Donnie) Powell, Kim (Scott) Webster, along with several great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 8:00  PM  Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Province Funeral Home in  Jonesville, VA with Pastor Layne Pennington officiating Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Sunday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM  Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Hillside Cemetery in Jonesville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Monday to go to the cemetery.
