Erma "Bernetia" Ewing

Erma (Bernetia) Ewing, age 81, of the Big Hill Community in Pennington Gap, VA went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, Monday, January 25, 2021 at her home after her courageous battle with cancer.

Berneita was born in Lee County, VA on October 16, 1939. Over the past 25 years Bernetia worked for In Home Nursing Care as a Personal Care Aide. She was second to none when it came to taking care of others. Bernetia attended the First Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, VA.

Bernetia was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother, who put the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. She adored her brothers and sister as well as her nieces and nephews. Her strength was admired by her family and friends. Bernetia is preceded in death by her parents George and Hazel Ely; one infant son Timothy; husband Lacy Ewing; and one grandson Keith Ewing. Bernetia is survived by her special great-granddaughter Macy Ewing, of the home; four children, Steve Ewing and wife Debbie, of Indianapolis, IN., Jeff Ewing and fiancé Misty Hatley,  Greg Ewing and wife Dannette, and daughter Pamela Fannon and husband Rick, all of Pennington Gap, VA.

Bernetia is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Melissa Gibson, Stephen Ewing, Michael Ewing, Heather Ewing, Corey Ewing, Lance Fannon, Austin Fannon, and Tyler Ewing; Sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter

A visitation will be held from 12 PM until 2 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021, with a funeral service following the visitation at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA., with Pastor Josh Osteen officiating. Anyone wishing to attend the funeral service may follow in procession at 2:00 PM. Grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers. Province Funeral Home of 42098 E. Due to covid-19 state regulations, only 10 people inside the funeral home, those attending the visitation are required to wear masks/facial covering. Social distancing guidelines will also be in place.
