Gary Lynn Martin, 66 of Dryden, Virginia, surrounded by family, passed on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. The eighth child of ten, he was born and raised in Lee County.
A jack of all trades, he made friends wherever he was, under a truck or hooking up a propane fireplace, he never met a stranger. Loved by everyone he met, he was a sweet, caring man whose life revolved around his four girls.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Martin (Lawson), Father, Fred Martin, Sister, Prescilla Ewing (Martin), Brother Fred Martin Jr, and Brother Darrell Martin. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Charlene Martin; two daughters Amanda Martin, fiancé, Chris Rhoad and Lacey Helton, and husband Mitch; Granddaughter Allie Sykes; furbaby Jax; Grandog Toby; brothers Paul Martin and wife Joyce, Larry Martin and wife Doris, Jeff Martin and wife Ava; sisters Elsie Fleenor and husband Rondall, Brenda Parkey and husband Doug, and Janet Barnett and husband, Ronnie; also with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Province Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020, receiving friends from 5pm-7pm with a funeral to follow. He will be laid to rest at Powell Valley cemetery at 1:00 on Sunday. The family has asked in lieu of flowers for a donation be made to the family at Province Funeral Home.
