Gene Daugherty

Gene Daugherty age 86 of the Skaggs Hill Community in Pennington Gap, VA was born Thursday, March 31, 1932 in Pennington Gap and passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. He retired as a truck driver and had been a member of the Teamsters Union Local #135. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Belchers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Gene liked farming, tractors and most of all his family. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeannie Daugherty, one son Tony Daugherty, parents Roy and Agnes Daugherty and two brothers Bill and Wayne Daugherty. Gene is survived by two daughters Sharon Dean and husband, Randall of Dryden, VA, Shelia Broadhuhn of Pennington Gap, VA, special friend Patsy Quillen, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Ira Clark and Pete Purdue officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Wednesday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Military Rites will be conducted by local VFW Posts and the Army National Guard Honors Team. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Thursday to go to the cemetery.
