Obituary

Holly Douglas McElyea age 79 of Keokee, VA was born in Keokee, VA June 27, 1942 and passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Lee County Hospital. He lived most of his life in Lee County, VA. He was a man with simple ways and worked very hard his entire life. Doug retired from the Pennington Waste Water Treatment Plant, he worked as a coal tipple operator, and traveled much of the Untied States as a truck driver in his earlier years. Doug was a member of the MeadowFork  Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports and was a big Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing with his Church family. He loved to help his neighbors and friends in time of need.  Doug enjoyed all activities outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his late wife and mother of his children Nancy Lee McElyea, parents Wiley McElyea and Zola Collinsworth, brothers and sisters Hobert, Truman, Vera Epp, Betty Green, “Bug” Trulia Mae McElyea. Doug  is survived by his wife Sharon McElyea of the home,   Doug is also survived by sons Timothy Erwin McElyea and wife, Elaine of Benham, KY Grand-children: Chandler and Spencer of Kingsport, TN; Randy Douglas McElyea and wife, Vicky of Stickleyville, VA  grandson: Preston; Jimmy Preston McElyea and wife, Steffany of Jonesville, VA Grand-children: Madison and Kenadee. Sister Marcella Grigsdy of Martinsville, IN,  adopted like son Kenny Taylor of Dryden, VA.step children  Emily McDevitt of Richardsville. Va and step son Jay McDevitt of Eddinburg Va. He is also survived by many precious nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be announced at a later date to be held at MeadowFork Baptist with a celebration of life memorial service will be held in his honor afterwards with Pastor David Parsons officiating.
