James "Jim" E. Holman

October 3, 1929 ~ December 25, 2020 (age 91) 91 Years Old

James Holman Obituary

On December 25, 2020, James, "Jim" E. Holman, passed with his family by his side.  He was 91.

Born in  Imboden, Va. to EDD and Elizabeth (nee Bolinsky) Holman, he would soon move to Benedict, Va. where he would spend his youth.

Jim was a graduate of  St. Charles High School, class of 1948 and enlisted for service in the Air Force during the Korean War.  He served as an Air Policeman and was  honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant, earning the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  Before shipping out to Korea, Jim met and married his dear wife Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Komanecky) and they would spend 68 years together before her passing in 2018. Following his return they would come to live in Baltimore and ultimately in Glen Burnie since 1960.

James earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Baltimore and made a career with the State of Maryland retiring as the Chief Constable for the Glen Burnie and Annapolis Circuit Courts in 1995.  During his leisure time Jim liked to go to the beach with his family, he liked to garden and cook and enjoyed music and reading.  He also loved animals.  It was said, "He lived a wonderful life," and took care of people and loved his family, prticularly his grandson Christopher.

In addition to his wife and parents Jim was also preceded in death by one brother Carl Holman and one sister Janie Holman.

He is survived by his devoted daughters, Carol Diane O'Brocki and Barbara Kay Holman as well as his dear grandson Christopher James O'Brocki all of Maryland.

Jim will be sorely missed by his beloved siblings, Donald and wife Gail Holman of Indianapolis, IN, Naomi Hall of Ben Hur, VA, Patricia and husband Ronnie Pielert of Ellicott City, MD, Sandy and husband Harry Daniels, of Indianapolis, IN, Marcie and husband Doug Ensley of Severna Park, MD as well as his sister-in-law Vera Woodward (Jim) of Beacon Falls, Ct and many nieces and nephews.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Family and friends are

asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 for the service.
