James Jr. “Buddy” Cheek age 68 of Pennington Gap, VA was born April 14, 1952 in Lee County, VA and passed away September 18, 2020 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Maudie Cheek, brothers Austin, Roosevelt, Shelby and Johnnie Cheek, an infant brother and one sister Laura Cupp.

James is survived by one daughter Amber Hanlan of Atchison, KS; four grandchildren Montgomery Sharp, Tia Howard, Kionna Sharp, and Peyton Sharp; two brothers Rodger Cheek and wife, Lisa of Ewing, VA, Milton Cheek of Kingsport, TN; two sisters Imogene Eldridge of Ewing, VA, Katherine Clouse of Jonesville, VA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mr. Cheek he will be cremated.
