Jessie Faye Smyth

Jessie Faye Smyth  age 87 was born May 12, 1934 the daughter of the late Doc and Zella Lockhart Clawson, and passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Lee Health and Rehab Center. Jessie was a retired Head Start teacher with Lee County Public Schools, and continued working with children after her retirement by volunteering at a local elementary school for 13 years.

Jessie enjoyed quilting, spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, and also loved vacationing in Pigeon Forge, TN. Jessie was a huge George Strait fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Roy Smyth, seven brothers, Vance, Bob, Adrian, Alonzo, Norman, Coy and twin brother Leslie Clawson. Two sisters, Anna Mae Allen and Ruby Doss. Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Hall and Jimmy of Woodway, VA, Connie Burchett and Bobby of Jonesville, VA, three grandchildren Holly Hall Russell and Derek of Woodway, VA, Kelly Hall Eviston and Richie of Jonesville, VA and Robby Burchett of Jonesville, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Pastor Josh Leonard officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:45 PM Wednesday for the graveside service. Pall Bearers will be Robby Burchett, Richie Eviston, Derek Russell, Bobby Burchett and Jim Hall.
