Keylas (Sodie) Darrell Quesenberry, 74, of Dryden, Virginia, went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
Sodie was born on August 15, 1946, in Ben Hur, Virginia, and lived most of his life in Lee County. He was of Christian faith and a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Jonesville, Virginia.
Sodie was known throughout Lee County as "The Dog Man", as he served as the County's Animal Control Officer for nearly eleven years before his retirement.
He enjoyed drag racing, as many will remember, and he loved talking to people, the latter maybe a little too much at times! Above all else, he was a devoted Husband and Father of three, all of which inherited his "Gift of Gab"
He was preceded in death by his Father, Alexander James (A.J.) Quesenberry and paternal grandparents, John Hyatt and Fanny Quesenberry, His Mother, Irene Quesenberry and maternal grandparents, Tyde and Nancy Haynes, and his Brothers, Rondell Quesenberry and Baby James Quesenberry.
He is survived by his Wife, Rita Quesenberry; his three children, Tammy Miles (Tony), Keyla Parker (Lander), and Keylas (J.R.) Quesenberry Jr. (Sydney); his grandchildren, Neal Miles (Amber), Morgan Thompson (Kaleb), Justin MIles, Andrew Parker (Brittany), Jordan Parker, Jesse Parker, and Jacob Quesenberry along with 10 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Nina Quesenberry, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. with services following at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 11 A.M. at Miller's Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Shawn Allen will be officiating the services and music will be provided by Henry Shell.
Pallbearers will be: Neal Miles, Justin Miles, Kaleb Thompson, Tony Miles, John Ryan, Christopher Stapleton, Brody Peters, and Walter Shell. Honorary Pallbearers are: Travis Phillips and Danny Ryan.
