Lenford "Gizmo" Tabor Sr.

Lenford “Gizmo” Tabor, Sr age 84 of the Woodway Community in Pennington Gap, Va. was born Thursday June 17th, 1937 in Pennington Gap, Va. and passed away Thursday September 9th, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.

He served in the Army with the 11th Airborne Division Angels and spent time in Germany, loved to go camping, spending time with his family and friends and was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ester “Jean” Tabor of 54 years, daughter Sondra Scott, grandson’s Gary Lynn Tabor and Gary Lee Tabor, Jr, parents Hubert and Pauline Tabor, mother and father in law Delmar and Bertha Scott, brothers William “Boyd” Tabor, Frank Tabor and Ronnie Tabor, Sr, and sister Betty Erexson. Brother in law Jim Fitzjarrald, sisters in law Hermita Tabor,  Robin Tabor and son in law Rick Pennington.

 Lenford is survived by his children Tim Tabor and Vicki Harber of Keokee VA, Jr and Sherry Tabor of Woodway VA, Carolyn and Mike Linkous of Duffield VA, Gary and Robin Tabor of Pennington Gap VA, Jackie and Lori Tabor of Chesterfield IN, Melissa and Robert Coleman of Ocoonita VA, Michelle and David Ely of Dryden VA, Robin D. Tabor of Kingsport TN, Rodney Tabor of St. Charles VA, Bradley and Melissa Tabor of Dryden VA, Christy and Mike Newton of Blountville TN, Liz Pennington of Woodway VA and adopted daughter Lois Shaffer of Kingsport TN. Very Special Friends Thelma Smith and Edna Mack.

 He was also survived by 36 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. Brothers Charlie Tabor, Mark and Rinda Tabor, Roger Tabor, Danny and Bonnie Tabor, Steve Tabor, Sisters Patsy and Gary Pennington, Joan Fitzgarrald and Kay and Bob Sparks. Sister in laws Codeanne Tabor Sword, Patty Tabor, and Connie Tabor.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2021 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway with  Pastor Mark Tabor officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 AM to go to the cemetery and the 21 Gun Salute. Military Rites will be conducted by Local VFW Post 5715 and National Guard Honors Team.
