Lora Jewel (Hill) Hensley, age 82, of Rose Hill, VA went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2020 at Westmoreland Care & Rehabilitation Center in Westmoreland, TN. She was born to parents Cecil and Florine (Miller) Hill on February 23, 1938 in Lee County. She lived most of her life in Rose Hill, and was a dedicated member of Boone Trail Trinity Tabernacle Church. Through her endless strength and unwavering faith in Jesus, she overcame many difficulties. She was a cancer survivor, community seamstress and source of many heartfelt prayers for her family and friends. She was a mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, wife, aunt, and friend. Her contagious laughter and playful spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved her for years to come.
Jewel married Fred Moore in 1953 in Virginia. The couple had two surviving children, Fred Moore Jr and Lisa (Moore) Burton. After Mr. Moore’s passing, Jewel married Dellis (Tex) Hensley. The couple has one surviving son, Dellis (DD) Hensley.
Jewel was preceded in death by both of her parents, both husbands, several brothers and sisters and two grandchildren. She is survived by son, Fred of Van Wert, Oh; daughter, Lisa and husband, Brently of Cookeville, Tn; son, Dellis and wife, Trish of Westmoreland, Tn; granddaughter, Kayley Melton and husband, Jordan; grandson, Jason Moore; granddaughter Breanna Rose with husband, Tyler Rose; grandson Glenn Caudill; great-grandchildren Ethan Moore, Jas’ciana Moore, Emeri Devoll, Reileigh Devoll and Parker Rose; brothers, Ken Hill of Texas, Harold Hill of Rose Hill, David Hill of Ohio and Jerry Hill of Indiana as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
The family welcomes all friends and family to call for viewing only on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 12 to 1:30pm at Province Funeral Home near Jonesville, VA. Graveside services for Jewel will be 2pm at Lee Cemetery in Rose Hill with Sister Shelby Long officiating and Andrea Lowe to read the obituary. Province Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
