Margaret Delores Johnson Jones, of Pennington Gap, VA, took exit 68 and went home to be with God on June 30, 2020.
Margaret was born November 2, 1951 in Pennington Gap, VA and was the daughter of Jeffery and Bennie Mae Johnson. Bennie later marries Rev. Millard Barnes who took the family to any church whose door was open no matter how far we had to travel.
She attended Pennington High School were she was a cheerleader and played the drums as a band member.
In 1970 she married Henry Henderson Jones, who preceded her in death, and to their union Rachel Dawn Jones Robbins, who took exit 47 to be with God, was born. Margaret and Henry served in the U.S. Army and Margaret was stationed in Germany.
Margaret loved to travel. She resided in Ohio and Michigan and ran a small business with her uncle J. C. Pennington before returning to Pennington Gap, VA to help with the care of her mother. Margaret had a giving generous spirit and volunteered for many years with the Baptist associations giving assistance to those in need.
Her young years, in search for God, were spent attending Beech Hill Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, VA. When she returned home she became a member of the Wells Chapel Church in Pennington Gap, VA and sang in the choir. Later she became a member of Mount Hope Church in Jonesville, VA, the church her grandchildren have grown up in and attended. She taught Sunday School at Mount Hope on occasion and loved her church family.
Margaret was also preceded in death by her two grandchildren William and Henry Jones. Her survivors are three beautiful grandchildren, Walker K. Feck, Cameron X. Jones and Khorbin L. McConnell; their fathers Mike McConnel and Bill Feck; sister Carol Johnson of Pennington Gap, VA; two brothers Sammy Johnson of Columbus Ohio and Danny Johnson of Pinkerton, Ohio and their wives Tina and Luci; nephews Sam Johnson, Justin Johnson, Brandon Johnson and JD Johnson; nieces Sidney Johnson Pass and her husband Reginald and Amanda Clark; one uncle Randolph Pennington of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister-in-law Mary Jones of Kingsport, TN.
Margaret was a very giving lady and she also leaves behind many family members and friends. Our family sends out a thank you to all who have given us support during this time as well as for many years. A very special thank you to Mount Hope who serves our family spiritually and became like family to our family.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday July 9, 2020 with Pastor Chris Seals officiating. Graveside services following in the Pennington Memorial Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA.
