Richard Allen Brooks

Richard Allen Brooks of Ewing, VA, better known as "Rick" or "Fat Baby", age 50, was born on Wednesday, October 11, 1967 and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018 after he lost his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patty Caldwell; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Pauline Caldwell; and one uncle, Keith Caldwell. Rick is survived by two brothers, Terry Brooks of Ewing, Edwin Catron and one sister, Melissa Catron. He is also survived by three loving aunts, Judy Caldwell and Ruth C. England of Ewing, VA and Shirley Dale (Bobby) Earls, Tazewell, TN. Survivors also include two great-aunts, Vester Dempsey, Rose Hill, VA and Ethel Chadwell, Ewing, VA; one niece, Elizabeth Brooks and five nephews, Dustin and Dalton Louthen, Josh and Johnny Johnson and Jeremy Catron; a close-knit group of first and second cousins by whom he was dearly loved; and a special "little buddy", Helen Parks Taylor. Rick loved floating the river, fishing, and hanging out with is his friends. Two of his greatest pleasures was the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the family reunion in June. Rick chose to be cremated and his ashes will be buried privately beside his mother in Jones Cemetery at a later date. However, friends and family will join in a celebration of his life at the annual family reunion, at noon, June 10, 2018, at the Civitan Park, Ewing, VA.
