Robert "Robo" Faine Laws

Robert (“Robo”) Faine Laws passed away, with his family by his bedside, Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Holston Valley Medical Center after suffering several months from serious medical issues.

Robert was born March 14, 1970 to Clarence and Grace Laws in Lee County, Virginia where he made his home his entire life. He worked thirty years in the log woods becoming one of the best timber cutters and log truck drivers in the area. Robert will be remembered for his kind, generous, and loving nature. He would open his home for family, friends, and an occasional stranger. He has provided shelter to many over the years. He was very thoughtful often not accepting a kind deed or gift without returning the favor. Robert will also be remembered for his intense stubbornness, and his knack to argue with his brother Jim, as if they were a long time married couple-neither wanting to compromise or say the other was right. Robert lived a simple life and found immense pleasure in spending time with family and friends. He was the uncle all the nieces and nephews loved spending time with making wonderful memories-from fishing trips to sleigh riding he made sure the kids had fun.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Grace Laws; and a special sister-in-law, Helen Laws. He is survived by his son, Joshua Sheldon Laws; daughter, Joy Elizabeth (Laws) Parsons; and a bonus daughter, Tishia (Joel) Middleton. He also leaves behind his brothers and best friends, Jim Laws, and Jerry Laws; brothers; Mike Laws and Alan (Mary) Laws, sisters: Marianne (Dave) Mersereau, Peggie (Scott) Hatcher, and Sherry (JR) Tabor; sister-in-law: Lisa (Laws) Moore; special nieces: Pam (Laws) Tillison, and Jessica (Laws) Seals; special long time friends: Jim Ellis and Ronnie Miles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

His loss will be felt by many and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. We will honor Robert’s memory by gathering family and friends to visit at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Virginia on October 28, 2021 from 12pm - 2pm and then conducting his funeral directly following visitation at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia with Tim Clark officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to share in honoring Robert by speaking, if they wish to do so.  “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” - Matthew 5:4.
