Rodney Drescher

Rodney E. Drescher, 71, of Maynardville, Tennessee passed away on May 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Fairview Knox Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Rodney loved serving the Lord through his carpentry skills with Wayne and Jeff as they served the community building decks and doing repairs for those in need. Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Rodney leaves behind his loving wife of almost 50 years, Jane A. Drescher of the home; son, Richard Drescher and wife Ramona of Olinger, Virginia ; daughter, Jennifer Deitch and husband Charles of Ewing, Virginia; 3 granddaughters Alexis Deitch, Ashton Jones and husband Jordan, and Kayla Simers and husband Earle; and 1 great granddaughter, Maeleigh Thatcher; 2 sisters, Kay and Robin of Mountville, PA; special friends, Wayne Maness and Jeff Matlock whom he served with through Southwest Va Partnership Inc. along with special friend, Carlos Wolfe.


The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Carlos Wolfe officiating. A committal service will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens with Richard Drescher, Charles Deitch, Wayne Maness, Jeff Matlock, Jordan Jones, and Brandon Leach serving as pallbearers.
