Ruth Eleanor Carroll Hughes

Ruth Eleanor Carroll Hughes age 81 of Pennington Gap, VA was born in St. Charles, VA on February 27, 1939 and passed away November 7, 2020 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Tobias Hughes, parents Benjamin and Nellie Mae Carroll, three sisters Ruby Jean McGill, Louise Taylor and Mabel Moon., four brothers Franklin Carroll, twin brother Ralph Carroll, Cecil Shephard and JC Shepherd.

Ruth is survived by her sons James Louis Swain (Patricia), Mark Douglas Hughes (Tracy), daughters Sharon Kay Swain McDevitt, Joyce Ann Swain Bales, (John), step-daughters Patsy Davis, Joyce Pickering and Lois Hinkle and a sister Polly Jean Davis.

Visitation will be from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Jack Clark officiating.

Burial will follow at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.
