Sam Baumgardner, 64
Simon Peter “Sam” Baumgardner, age 64, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born June 23, 1956 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to his loving parents, Pete and Ruth Baumgardner.
He and his wife, Diane (Williams) Baumgardner, were married 29 years and enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. He spent much of his life working at Bacon Auto Parts in Rose Hill while spending the last seven years driving a tractor-trailer for Jovida Enterprises of Ewing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ruth Baumgardner, and one brother, Ronnie Baumgardner.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Baumgardner; two daughters, Sonya Baumgardner of Rose Hill, and Regina (Chuck) Leddington of London, Kentucky; and two sons, Doug (Kerry) Baumgardner of Willowick, Ohio, and Derek Baumgardner of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; two very special grandsons, Kane Baumgardner, and Seth Leddington; three sisters, Betty Collins of Rose Hill, Lillian Sharpe of Rose Hill, and Hazel (Jay) Blair of Jonesville; and two brothers, James “Buddy” Baumgardner of Telford, Tennessee; and Roger “Peanut” (Deborah) Baumgardner of DeKalb, Texas.
Pallbearers will be his son, Doug Baumgardner, and special friends John Knuckles, Dakotah Knuckles, David Bacon, Lynn Hornsby, Tony Reisinger, Mason Hines, Larry Greer, and Robert Bush.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Robinson and Pastor Jonathan Lovelace officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens Park West in Rose Hill, VA.
Due to covid-19 state regulations, those attending the visitation and funeral are asked to wear masks/facial covering. Social distancing guidelines will also be in place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Sam to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
