Shirley (Crusenberry) Scalf

Shirley (Crusenberry) Scalf age 83 of St. Charles, Va  passed away on Tuesday, January 4th 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary Crusenberry, beloved husband Coy Scalf and her brother Carl Crusenberry all of St. Charles, Va. She and Coy were married on October 5th 1954 and enjoyed 62 plus years of marriage together prior to his passing in July of 2017. She is survived by 7 siblings, sister Barbara (Crusenberry) Whitt, sister Betty (Crusenberry) Livesay, brother Robert Crusenberry and wife Ella Mae, brother Darrell Crusenberry and fiance Carolyn Harless Barnette, sister Carol (Crusenberry) Anders and husband Brownie, sister Connie Lefevers Crusenberry, and brother Billy Evans and wife Trula.  Shirley was blessed and loved greatly by her 4 children, son Danny Scalf of Woodway, Va, son James Scalf and wife Lisa (Harber) also of Woodway, daughter Rhonda (Scalf) Strong of St. Charles, and son Larry Scalf of St. Charles. She is also survived by 5 beloved grandchildren, Erica (Ramey) Honaker and husband Daniel and pet Ace of Pounding Mills Va, Jamie (Scalf) Crumley and husband Jordan of Woodway Va, Leslie (Scalf) Province and husband Harold of Pennington Gap Va, Steven Scalf and wife Lorianne (Hembree)  of Rose Hill Va, and Thomas Scalf of Woodway Va. She was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Madilyn, Alex, Colton, Isabella, and Gabriella. Shirley was born and  raised in the community of Turner Siding in St. Charles Va and her and husband Coy left the area and lived in Indiana, Maryland, and Iowa before deciding to return home to their roots in Virginia for good in 1982.  She was raised in the Church of God in St. Charles and was a life long believer. She was an avid reader, loved to play bingo, cards, and games in general and especially enjoyed her time with her beloved family. She will be greatly missed by family as well as countless friends. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jill Couch for the years of quality care she gave and the compassion she showed to Shirley.  Visitation will be held at Province Funeral home of Pennington Gap, VA on Saturday January 8th, 2022 from 11am – 1pm with services officiated by Pastor Paul Davis immediately after and grave site service to follow
