Tim Johnson

Tim Johnson, 51, of Radford, Virginia, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 1, 2019 in Kingsport, TN, following a long battle with Castleman’s Disease and Congestive Heart Failure.

Tim was born and raised in Pennington Gap, VA. He was the youngest son of the late Charlie and Gloria Johnson. He spent his childhood loving the outdoors, playing in the creeks and walking many miles in the holler. He went off to Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, to study Pre-Med with an outside field in music. During these years, Tim participated in a Choral Group “Something Special” and created many special friendships that would last a lifetime. He eventually went on to graduate from New River College in Dublin, Virginia, with a Registered Nurse Degree. From that point on his patients became his passion. Tim loved helping people. Tim’s other passion was Music. From vocals to “pickin” his guitar, his talent was insurmountable. He was the former Praise and Worship Leader of Central United Methodist Church in Radford, VA. Where music ministry was truly his heart, some of his fondest memories were during this time.

Tim leaves behind his beloved children: daughter Alethia Brewer (Justin) and grandchildren Levi, Lillian, Brently and Atticus Brewer of Pennington Gap, VA; daughter Shannes Marion of Pennington Gap, VA; son Aaron Taylor Johnson of Kingsport, TN; daughter Adia Blackman of Kingsport, TN; daughters Madailein Adams and Alexandria Johnson of Radford, VA; and sons Timothy Griffin Pierce Johnson and James Hampton Johnson also of Radford, VA; his special step-father William “Chub” Dye of Pennington Gap, VA; brother Chuck Johnson (Melissa) of Pennington Gap, VA; brother Mark Johnson (Kim) of Pennington Gap, VA; sister Shannon Smith (Larry) of Flat Lick, KY; brother Tim Dye (Vonda) of Pennington Gap, VA; sister Cathy Hensley (Darrell) of Pennington Gap, VA; and brother Brandon Dye of Pennington Gap, VA. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of many friends.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents Charlie H. Johnson of Dryden, VA and Gloria-Jean Dye of Pennington Gap, VA.

Visitation for Tim Johnson will be Monday, May 6, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at the Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap, VA. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Birch Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Dryden, VA, immediately after.
