Vanessa Livesay Obituary

Vanessa Dale Livesay, age 43, of Kingsport, Tennessee passed away in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Born October 9, 1977, in Kingsport, Tennessee to Deborah Gilreath and Robert Dale Livesay, both of Woodway, Virginia; Vanessa had devoted her life to being a loving mother, daughter, wife, United States Air Force Veteran and Nurse Practitioner. A 1995 Graduate of Lee High School, she was voted “most likely to do anything” by her peers. In school she was involved in many organizations and teams such as Lee High Lady Basketball, Lee High Flag Corp, Health Occupational Students of America, Beta Club, and Future Business Leaders of America.  The next year, she received her degree from Lee Vocational Technical School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then pursued and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee being a 1999 graduate. Vanessa then enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and serving her tour as a Captain and Operating Room Field Nurse during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Fallujah, Iraq. After her honorable discharge, she then received her Master of Science in Nursing , being a 2013 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee. She was then able to serve a long and rewarding career serving others as a Nurse Practitioner.  A fun loving, one of a kind, light up any room she walked in to, fierce soul and full of life lady that you never had to doubt where she stood on a subject matter; Vanessa will be missed dearly by her loving family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Mary Ann Hyden-King and Chad King; maternal grandfather James W. Hyden; paternal grandparents Pearl and Gaye Livesay; one uncle, Dwight Livesay; four aunts, Helen Qualls, Mary Hobbs, Loreine Lee and Joyce Brown; stepson, Dakoatah Lyons; one cousin, Patrick McElroy and special friend, Chad Darnell She is survived by her parents, Debra Gilreath and Dale Livesay of Woodway, VA, three children of the home, son, Keegan Pritchett and daughters, Kayleen and Nalani Pritchett; husband, Jason Lyons; one and only brother, Roger (Miranda) Livesay of Fall Branch, Tennessee; special niece, McKenzie Livesay King; nieces, Charity and Brooklyn Pitts, all of Kingsport, Tennessee; two uncles, Jim (Bridgett) Livesay and Kermit (Ann) Livesay, all of Jonesville, Virginia; step daughter and grandson, Natasha Lyons and Jaxton Sauls of Jonesborough, Tennessee; great aunt, Louis McElroy of San Antonio, Texas; special lifelong friends, Julie (Will) Livesay Parrish of Rockvale, Tennesse and James “Jimbo” Laws of  Woodway, Virginia; and a host of many other special friends and family.

Visitation will be held at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Virginia on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6-8PM. Funeral services will immediately follow in the chapel at 8PM with Rev. Brian Ricketts officiating.  Internment with full military honors will be conducted on Saturday, July 24 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia at 10AM.  Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap, Virginia is proudly assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
