Vincent L. (Ben) Kirk

Vincent Lintenia Kirk, known to many as Vince/Ben Kirk and DAD), passed away peacefully in the arms of his savior to never hurt or struggle again on Thursday, September 13, 2018. It brings his family such peace and comfort knowing we will see him again. Born March 11, 1938 in Harlan, KY, Dad was raised by many different people all over the country thus for the ones who knew him well, he has some heartbreaking stories and early childhood heartbreaks but the turning point for him was the day he married his wife and had a family of this own. Vicki and I wish every girl could have a dad just like ours. He’s been there standing right beside us all the way and has always encouraged us to be the best we could be. In the end of his life with his family, the most important thing to dad was to know he was loved and for us to know he loved us. It should be known that Dad loved his family more than words could ever describe. Dad was preceded in death by his father Creed Kirk and sister Creeda Hall. Ben/Dad is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Betty Kirk, Daughters Anna Kirk Willis and Vicki Kirk Shoemaker (Jimmy). His grandchildren Jonathan David Willis (Kaylee), Christopher Matthew Newman (fiancé Heather), Amanda Elaine Newman and Kevin Cooper. Great Grandchildren Jonathan Willis (expecting a child in October), Madison Riley Crusenberry, Logan Thacker, Christopher Maxwell Newman and Gabriel Matthew Newman. Several nieces and nephews Pall bearers will be grandsons Jonathan David Willis, Christopher Matthew Newman, Nephew Ted Hall, James Talbott, Mark Peters and Jeff Peters.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis Jr. officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Military Rites will be conducted by local VFW Post and the Army National Guard Honors Team.
