Virgil Greene

Virgil Greene age 91, was born at home on November 26, 1929 in Lee County, VA ( Stone Creek Community) and called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2020 (Christmas Day) while at Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pennington Gap, VA.

Virgil was of the Baptist Faith and a lifelong member of Admant Baptist Church. He lived in Lee County all his life, born and raised on a farm, where he had a passion for raising and training horses, beginning at a young age. He worked several years at Tom and Doris (Thompson) Bledsoe’s Grocery Store in Stone Creek and Berry’s Camper Sales in Woodway, VA before retirement.

Virgil never met a stranger, ready to greet everyone with a warm smile, laughter, handshake or wave.

Virgil was blessed with a large and loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Lee and Pansy (Thompson) Greene, sister: Ruth (Ruthie) Greene and brothers: Junior Greene and J.C. Greene.

He is survived by two brothers Bobby Greene and wife, Janice of Pennington Gap, VA, Willard Greene and wife, Jane of Dryden, VA, two sisters Alma Jean  Bledsoe of Pennington Gap, VA and Wilma Jean O’ Neill, of West Brandywine,  PA, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude for all the acts of kindness given to Virgil during his illness and to the family, for all your expressions of love and prayers.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Pennington Memorial Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. With Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM for the service.
