Roy Wayne Johnston

Mr. Roy Wayne Johnston age 69 of Monroe, TN passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mr. Roy Wayne Johnston was born in Woodway, Virginia on November 14, 1947 to the late Roy Ancil and Venus Mosley Johnston. He was a Coal Miner and also served in the Army. Roy is survived by Daughters: Kathie Kegley and her husband Lee, Brandy Davis and her husband Tom; Loving and loyal Puppy Missy; 1 Sister: Joann Bailey; 1 Brother: Roger Johnston; 3 Grandchildren: Codie Kegley and his wife Lynsey, Tyler Kegley and his girlfriend Hannah Fleming, Brooke Erdman; 1 Great Grandchild: Rhylee Kegley Step-Grandchildren Nichole Hurst, Landon Hurst, Dustin Davis, Joseph Davis and a host of nieces and nephews; Godson: Roy Frances Gilbert; Childhood BFF and his son: Dr. Sidney Lee Gilbert and Dr. Sidney Lee Gilbert, Jr.; His extended family: Karl and very special friends Deenie Ashenfelter and Tony Robbins (Uncle Tony) and Nancy and Russ Smith, Richard Crabtree and Jim Cox. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by; 1 Daughter: Cynthia D. Johnston; 3 Sisters: Ella Sue Hayworth, Donna Rhea, Patricia Bernard; 1 Brother: Thomas Edward Johnston. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Darrell Hensley officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Saturday until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodway, VA. Military Rites will be conducted by local VFW Post and the National Guard Honors Team.
