Dewey "Hershell" Pennington, age 70 of the Robbins Chapel Community was born Wednesday , October 23, 1944 in Keokee, VA and passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his home in Keokee. Hershell had been a truck driver, hauling gravel for Bill Carter Trucking and he enjoyed muscle cars in his spare time.He was preceded in death by his parents William R. Jake and Pellia (Garrison) Pennington, two sons Greg Pennington and Robert Pennington, three brothers Jess Pennington, Charlie Howard Pennington and Cisco Pennington, two sisters Madella Pennington Jones & Dorothy Pauline Pennington Robbins.Hershell is survived by two sons Marty Pennington and wife Natalie of Wilmington, NC and Sean Pennington of Albermarle, NC, his grandchildren whom he loved very much; Robert Pennington, Jr., Dustin Pennington, Blaine Pennington, Morgan Pennington and Kaylin Pennington. He is also survived by his nieces; Donna Kay Robbins, Lisa Moore, Teresa Timmons, Dianna Pennington, Pam Pennington, Sarah Roe, Jessica Woolever, Norma Jean Grisby, Maryanne Banks and Martha Lambert, nephews; Keith Pennington, Mike Pennington, Joe Pennington, Phillip Pennington, Frankie Pennington, Roger Pennington, Allen Pennington, Dylan Tomlinson and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Tuesday until the time of the service.Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery on Sugar Run Rd. in Jonesville, VA.Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.Condolences and memorials can be sent to the family by visiting www.provincefuneralhome.com We are located at 42098 E.
